EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND GROUP OPPORTUNITIES AT PROGRESSION COUNSELING GROUP

Progression Counseling Group offers education, training and group opportunities to individuals in the community and professionals. These opportunities provide education and/or support and are not covered by insurance. The out of pocket cost must be paid upon registration. Some groups and trainings will require a minimum number of registrants and participants. Group participants will be required to sign a group participation agreement. Group registration will close after the second week though participants can register for next round. Current Education, Training and Group Opportunities

  • Title: Self Advocacy Training 101

  • Facilitator: Amanda Sabo, LSW

  • Intended Participants: Anyone who wants to increase assertive communication and boundaries in their lives.

  • Summary: This training is for those  who want to learn how to create boundaries and advocate for self. They will learn the meaning and understand why assertiveness and boundaries are essential for healthy relationships. The training walks participants through various scenarios and participants will be able to role play effective application.

  • Objectives: Define Assertiveness and Boundaries (and debunk myths), Identify risks and benefits of self-advocacy, practice assertive communication and boundary setting with others

  • Schedule: One, 3 hr training. Typically offered weekday morning. 

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $90/participant

  • Title: Postpartum Education/Support Group

  • Facilitator: Becka Joanis, LSW

  • Intended Participants: Mothers with a child one year or younger.

  • Summary: Provides mothers a safe place to support one another through the challenges of the 1st year of motherhood. Group will be provided education related to baby blues, vs depression. Discussion topics will include intimacy, partnerships, mindfulness, sleep and others.

  • Objectives: Safe, judgment free space to express challenges and seek support; connections with those in similar life situations; education regarding postpartum.

  • Schedule: 1 hr/week for 8 weeks. Typically offered weekday evenings.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available. In-person option allows for infant attendance.

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $240/participant

  • Title: Suicide Prevention Education

  • Facilitator: Becka Joanis, LSW or Hillary Schultz, LPCC-s

  • Intended Participants: Groups including school based personnel, faith leaders,  students (14+), businesses, members of the community. 

  • Summary: Participants will learn suicide risk factors and red flags. They will learn and feel comfortable asking important questions to those who are at risk. Steps for intervention and local resources will be provided.

  • Objectives: Participants will learn risk factors; learn how to perform a basic risk assessment; receive education and current related stats; learn about available community resources; increase confidence and competence in suicide prevention and intervention.

  • Schedule: One, 2-4 hr training depending on need.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available including at requested site.

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Title: Trauma Support Group

  • Facilitator: Megan Long, LISW-s

  • Intended Participants: Adults struggling with post-trauma related symptoms.

  • Summary: Focus will be on the here and now, helping participants learn about trauma responses, support one another, and increase adaptive coping strategies. 

  • Objectives: Participants will learn the definition of trauma, trauma as a "wound" and "3 E's of trauma; Learn adaptive coping grounding techniques; Learn about "4 F's" of trauma responses, Gain support from other members.

  • Schedule: One, 90 min group/week for 8 weeks. Morning, afternoon and evening options.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $360/participant

  • Title: Creating Healthy Romantic Relationships

  • Facilitator: Megan Hoon, LPCC

  • Intended Participants: Young adults, ages 20+; Adults and their partners

  • Summary: Understanding the building blocks of healthy romantic relationships; forming healthy relationships from the beginning and /or reconnecting with your partner.

  • Objectives: Learn how to be a team: key components of healthy romantic relationships; Learn effective communication skills: what does that look like; Learn conflict resolution skills; how to fight fair.

  • Schedule: One, 4 hour virtual workshop (evening) or one, 6 hour (in-person) Saturday workshop

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $120-$180/participant

  • Title: Post-Abortive Healing Support Group

  • Facilitator: Amanda Sabo, LSW

  • Intended Participants: Those who have had an abortion and are struggling with the impact of it.

  • Summary: Participants will work through the unique issues that one can face, post-abortion. Group will include multiple themes including anger, shame, self forgiveness and more. Focusing on acceptance and self love.

  • Objectives: Support from others to decrease sense of isolation; space to grieve; working through shame; self-forgiveness and acceptance.

  • Schedule: One, 90 min. group/week, for 8 weeks. Typically offered weekday evenings.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $360/participant

  • Title: Building Healthy Relationships as a Teenage Girl (Tween Group and Teen Group)

  • Facilitator: Becka Joanis, LSW

  • Intended Participants: Tween Girls ages 8-12; Teenage Girls ages 13-16

  • Summary: Participants will receive education about healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, friendships, self care, emotional regulation and healthy communication while receiving peer support.

  • Objectives: Connecting with other girls who are the same age; receive education regarding healthy vs. unhealthy relationships; understand healthy expression of emotions/feelings.

  • Schedule: 2hr group, one evening a week, for 8 weeks (from 4-6pm or 5-7pm)

  • Virtual or In-Person: In-person

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $480/participant

  • Title: Incorporating Mindfulness at Work and Home

  • Facilitator: Becka Joanis, LSW 

  • Intended Participants: Adults

  • Summary: Participants will receive education about Mindfulness and benefits. Participants will learn different approaches, skills, and techniques which can be practices and incorporated into both work and home life.

  • Objectives: Learn about Mindfuless and benefits; learn brief mindfulness exercises; learn how to incorporate Mindfulness into work and home life; receive education regarding benefits of Mindfulness.

  • Schedule: One, 2 hr training. Offered mornings or afternoon

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available.

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $60/participant (call to inquire about special prices for groups)

  • Title: LBGTQIA+ Educational and Support Group

  • Facilitator: Megan Long, LISW-s

  • Intended Participants: Adults, any gender, who identifies with the LBGTQIA+ population.

  • Summary: This support group is intended to be a safe space for those struggling with identity concerns, interpersonal concerns, or discrimination. 

  • Objectives: Gain positive social connection with other queer individuals; Receive support through difficult life transitions; Receive information about resources including linkage to other gender affirming services; Receive education necessary to break down stigma and internalized homophobia/transphobia.

  • Schedule: One, 60 min group/week for 8 weeks. Morning, afternoon and evening options.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Both options available

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $240/participant

  • Title: ADHD Support and Strategy Share

  • Facilitator: Jennifer Reed, LPCC-s

  • Intended Participants: Adults (18+)

  • Summary: Participants will share and learn coping skills and strategies for a variety of day to day activities that include difficulties with organization, starting/completing tasks, reducing distractions, and others.

  • Objectives: Participants will learn at minimum 5-6 skills to try out, and discuss their own barriers to application.

  • Schedule: One 60 min. session weekly for six weeks, typically Friday mornings.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Virtual

  • Training Size: 3-10

  • Cost: $180/participant

  • Title: Resume Writing and Interview Skills 101

  • Facilitator: Jennifer Reed, LPCC-s

  • Intended Participants: Adults

  • Summary: Participants will learn strategies and skills to use to optimize their resume and have successful employment interviews.

  • Objectives: Participants will learn important information about having a professional polished resume, what recruiters may look for, and what to do/not to in a job interview.

  • Schedule: One, 60 min session weekly, for six weeks, typically Friday mornings.

  • Virtual or In-Person: Virtual

  • Training Size: 3-10
